Ricky and Lucy give the Mertz a television set for their 25th wedding anniversary. Ricky accidentally breaks it while setting it up, and Fred breaks the Ricardo's set in retort. Furious, all of them go to court to solve the issue.
Lucy and Ethel enter a contest for a chance to win five rooms full of furniture. Ricky gets tickets to a musical, but Lucy and Ethel refuse to leave the house until the contest is over so they can answer the phone.
Lucy wants her child to be raised knowing proper English, and hires an English tutor to teach her. Ricky's had enough, and promises the tutor many auditions with record companies if he starts to talk more like him.
Ricky begins to feel neglected when everyone focuses on Lucy and Lucy forgets to cook him dinner. Lucy and Ethel decide to give him a baby shower with all the boys to help cheer him up, but sneak in themselves when Fred calls it a stag party.
Lucy wants to become a fine artist before the baby arrives so she will have skills to teach. At an art store, she is convinced that she has immense talent for sculpting. Ricky is against the idea due to the cost, but tells Lucy she can continue if she gets the approval of an art critic.
